Documentary about wild, grey wolves in northern Russia. A state bounty system still operates for local hunters who trap and kill both adults and pups. Often pups are sold on to New Russians who keep them as exotic pets. Now one former hunter is buying pups from hunters to study, nurture and then release them into the wild. A considerable amount of material, I filmed myself during the wolves’ first year.
